To Do (Or Not To Do!!) Lists

I'm sure we've all said this before but I can't believe it's March already! Where has this year gone? Almost a quarter of it gone already. I could be wrong but this seems to be age related, the older I get, the quicker time goes!

In an effort to use my time more productively, I have a selection of To Do Lists and Planners, not just as an excuse to buy more stationery from my two favourite stores, Kikki K and Typo, but to really try and keep myself on track.

Kikki Stationery Planning

However, I still sometimes struggle to keep up. Mind you, if I stopped signing up for craft swaps and snail mail projects my list would be much shorter, but I wouldn't have as much fun!

So I am trying my hardest to cross stuff off that list and keep everything on track and I do believe it is beginning to work. I am catching up with my letters and my craft projects, somehow seeing an actual list motivates me and let's be honest, the more lists I make and tick off the more stationery I can buy when I use up the ones I have (as if I need an excuse!!).

Who else uses lists? Do you complete them or do you have lots of unfinished tasks to catch up with? I'll be honest, I add tasks I've already done sometimes just so I can tick off another one. Do you do that too or am I just strange? Let me know if you have any ideas or tips on how to become more organised.

Pocket Letters - A New Way to send Snail Mail

I recently came across a post by Janette Lane about Pocket Letters (read it here) and immediately I was hooked. This is a great new way to send letters to people and in the process make some new friends. Since Janette did her first post on Instagram the craze has swept the internet, with it's own network and a huge following on both Facebook and Instagram. Anyone who knows me will know that I love letter writing and snail mail projects and this was too good to miss.

Incoming Pocket Letter

The idea is to use plastic sleeves which are generally used to store baseball cards in and to fill the pockets with all sorts of goodies and a short letter to your partner. These can be paper crafting items, tea, sticky notes, etc. Most people enclose some type of extra goodies in their penpal letters and this idea just gives an extra dimension to the letter. The pocket pages received can then be stored in a binder and the goodies can be left in or used for other letters!

As I have a huge stash of paper craft goodies, this seemed an ideal way to use them up and buy some more clear some space in my sewing room!

Outgoing Pocket Letter

So far I have received some lovely pocket letters and made some new friends. I have really enjoyed putting together the outgoing ones and have found some stuff I'd forgotten I had!!

Between my signing up for Instagram craft swaps and now Pocket Letters, it looks like my time is going to be full of craftiness for the foreseeable future and I'm looking forward to it! If anyone wants me, I'll be in my sewing room!!

Do you have a secret (or not so secret!) craft stash? What's your weakness, paper, fabric or something else? Let me know and I won't tell anyone, honest!!

Movie Night - Taking me Back to India

The Hubby and I went to see The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel on Saturday night and it was fantastic! Having seen the first one, I was keen to see whether this one lived up to it and while there was a fairly thin storyline, it was still full of the sights and sounds of India.

Arjuna Market Stall

As with the first one, I was transported back to the wonderful month we spent in India some years ago. I even remembered the peculiar fragrance of India, a mix of spices, vegetation and other things you wouldn't want to linger on! When I got home I pulled out the photos and had a look. These are just a few of the truly gorgeous places we saw!

Temple to Ganeesh
The movie has a great all star cast, with my favourites, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Bill Nighy. Richard Gere pops up too but it is definitely Judi Dench and Maggie Smith who steal the show! I've decided I'd like to be Maggie Smith when I grow up , her one liners are just brilliant. There is even some Bollywood dancing and who can resist that!

So, if you are looking for a good night out filled with colour, laughter and some excellent one liners this is the one for you. I heartily recommend you go see it and be transported to India, a truly magical place.

What movies have you seen and loved? Are there any that remind you of a favourite holiday? What places are on your holiday bucket list? India was never on mine but I'd go back in a hearbeat as it was one of the best holidays I've ever had!

Wardrobe Warriors - A Chance to Clear Out my Wardrobe And Help a Good Cause!!

Okay, hands up, who may or may not have an excess amount of clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories lurking in their wardrobe?

I know I certainly do and while I use my job in fashion as an excuse, it's not really, I just love to buy clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories!! (I really hope that my belief that the hubby doesn't read my blog is true right now!).

So when I read about this amazing event happening in Brisbane, I was right on it. It's a chance to clear out your wardrobe and support a very good cause at the same time. Check out Wardrobe Warriors here for all the details. The ticket price to be a seller is only $53.50 for a 3m x 3m space and is you just want to come along to browse and buy then a gold coin donation is all you need! All proceeds will go straight to Assista a Sista. Assist a Sista is a group of Community volunteers who work together to help survivors of domestic violence to rebuild and repair by bringing hope and restoring faith (

I've got my seller ticket already and am looking forward to having a little more space in my wardrobe (and maybe a little more money in my pocket!!). And, who knows, i may find a few bargains from th other sellers to fill up my space again!
So if you're in Brisbane, get yourself to McGregor State High School on Saturday, 28th February between 9am and 2pm for a chance to take part in this great event.

This post is not sponsored, I just think this is a great idea and a great cause.

Do you need a wardrobe clear out? Are you a secret (or not so secret) Imelda Marcos? Hope to see you at Wardrobe Warriors, come and say Hi!

Crafty Swapping (with a Little Bit of Stalking!)

Late last year I signed up for my first Instagram quilt swap, the Little Quilts Swap run by Sarah Fielke and Amy Lobsiger. I first saw it mentioned in a post by one of my friends and was so intrigued I tracked down the details and promptly signed up!! At the same time, I signed up for the FMS Gift Exchange run by Fat Mum Slim (Chantelle Ellem). This seems to have become my equivalent of late night online shopping, I sign up for swaps!!

I love to craft and quilting is my favourite but I'd have to say that I tend to start lots of projects and not finish them. Most quilters have a few UFOs (Unfinished Objects) floating around because there is so much fabric and there's always a new project to entice you! However, give me a deadline and I can suddenly find lots of time to sew and can finish things well ahead of the set time!!

My completed Gardens Paths Mini Quilt from Little Quilts by Sarah Fielke & Amy Lobsiger

The result was the above mini quilt and a few little extras which were duly sent off to my swap partner.

Honeycomb Mini Quilt and Extras

In return for my totally impressive productivity(!), I received the above goodies from the lovely Lisa! So I had lots of fun stalking my partner, making the quilt and finding the extras and then I got this absolutely gorgeous little quilt which now hangs on my sewing room wall. In fact, I had so much fun, I signed up for another two last week (eeeek!!). I always was a glutton for punishment!

At least my fabric stash should shrink, although, maybe I need to buy more fabric....hmmm, very tempting!!

Watch this space as I suddenly HAVE to finish projects and move in to top gear. Follow up pictures will be posted soon!

Do you take on projects on the spur of the moment? What's your online fix? I've told you mine, now it's time to spill the beans on yours! I won't tell if you don't!

Welcome To 2015

Can't believe 2014 has gone and we're now into 2015! I don't know where the last year went!

The past year had some high spots for me:
  • My son got married in November
  • I reached four years clear in my cancer journey
  • I changed base stores at work, cutting my travel time by a third most days.
All good things that I am grateful for!

So, what does 2015 hold for me?

My plan is to make sure I get time to do things I enjoy, like spend time with my family, work on my blog, be by the ocean and be present in the moments of my life!

Of course, I had to make the trip to Typo to get a new Weekly Planner and diary to ensure that I have the necessary tools to plan my time management. Any excuse for new stationery is a good excuse for me! So now that I am set up with a some great stationery, I am ready to face this new year!

Any one who read my first post will know it took me six months to publish it, well this year I am setting myself weekly targets and I am determined to meet them. This is the closest I will get to a resolution, so wish me luck in following through!!

What are your aims for this year? How do you plan your time? Did you also have to make that totally necessary trip to Typo and Kikki K? Let me know, I'd love to hear any tips you have. Oh, and Happy New Year!
